Schedules and repeating discoveries
A schedule makes a discovery repeat. Set it once and Hunto starts a fresh run each time it is due, so your picture of a domain stays current without anyone remembering to click.
Repeat options
| Option | Runs |
|---|---|
| Once | One run, now. The schedule is kept as a record. |
| Daily | Every day. |
| Weekly | Every week. |
| Monthly | Every month. |
Each run starts at a time counted from when the schedule was created, not at a fixed clock time. A weekly schedule created on a Tuesday afternoon repeats on Tuesday afternoons.
Repeat when you start a run
- Select Run discovery.
- Choose the target and detective.
- Set Repeat to Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
- Select Run discovery.
The first run starts now. The message under the header says "repeats daily" (or weekly or monthly).
Starting the same detective on the same target again with a different Repeat changes the cadence of the existing schedule for free. It does not create a duplicate.
Repeat an existing run
- Open the run from Runs or from a schedule.
- Use the Repeat menu at the top of the run page: Off, Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
- Confirm. The dialog asks, for example, "Repeat this run daily?" and reminds you that each repeat uses credits.
Choose Off to stop the schedule from firing again. Runs already made are kept.
Note: The Repeat menu appears only when the run belongs to a schedule.
Changing the cadence re-anchors the schedule to now. The next run is worked out from that moment, not from the original start.
See what is scheduled
Open Discoveries and stay on the Schedules tab.
- Repeat shows the frequency.
- Status shows whether it is Active, Completed, Paused and so on.
- Next run shows the time it fires, Overdue or Due now.
- Use the Repeat filter to list only repeating schedules.
Select a schedule to open its pane, which lists every run it has made.
What happens each time a schedule fires
- Hunto checks your credit balance. If the balance is too low, or discoveries are paused for your account, that run does not start. The next fire tries again.
- If the previous run of the same schedule is still going, the schedule does not start a second one at the same time.
- Otherwise a new run starts, uses credits, and follows the normal lifecycle. See How a discovery run works.
- When it finishes, Hunto compares it with the previous run and records what changed.
Choosing a cadence
| Goal | Suggested repeat |
|---|---|
| Brand abuse and leaks | Weekly with Brand & leaks |
| Email and DNS policy drift | Weekly or Monthly with Email & DNS security |
| Keeping a domain's rating current | Weekly with Outside-in rating |
| A vendor you review each quarter | Monthly, or run Once before each review |
| A one-off investigation | Once |
Each run costs credits, so choose the slowest cadence that still meets your need. See Credits and limits for Discovery.
Use cases and wiring tips
- Weekly brand-abuse sweep. Run Brand & leaks on your main domain with Weekly. Each week, open Potential Detections and accept the real lookalikes and leaks.
- Watch a score dip. Schedule Outside-in rating weekly. Open the History view of the domain's rating to see when the grade fell, then open the Changes tab of that run to see what caused it.
- Wiring. Schedule results feed Potential Detections, the Changes view and the Security Posture page. Use the notification settings to be told about new detections. See Discovery use cases and wiring tips.
